DISCOVER A PRIVATE OCEAN PLAYGROUND: SIMILIAN AND TACHAI ISLANDS
When it comes to ocean escapes, the Andaman Sea has it all: perfect white sand beaches, clear water for snorkelling and diving and explorable islands.
Just off the coast of the resort town of Khao Lak sits the archipelago known as the Similian Islands, a 9-island National Park open from November-April each year. The first of the Similian Islands is closed to public access and reserved as a sanctuary for Sea Turtles, protected by the Royal Thai Navy. Thanks to this Sea Turtles are regularly spotted on our tours.
Lazing on the heavenly beaches of these islands you'd be forgiven for thinking you're in the most peaceful place on earth - and you are. But climb into your scuba gear and take a trip down to one of the many coral reefs nearby and you're suddenly immersed in a densely populated ocean floor metropolis.
Despite Koh Tao being the more well-known dive destination, the Similians are regularly rated among top-ten sites worldwide. Water temperatures here are ideal for coral growth, and as a result the underwater ecosystem has thrived. Sink a few meters below the waves and you'll be met with an array of sea life including manta rays, sharks, whale sharks, and immense schools of fish such as trevally and barracudas.
The Andaman Sea and islands are an ocean playground that offer some of the best tourist experiences that Thailand offers. At Casa de La Flora, we know that tours of such a diverse area need to be tailored to an individual's needs. Speak to our guest service agent today to start planning your island-hopping adventure!
